?For the time of year that?s in it, Freddy?s recipe for this week is Halloween themed. We?re busy in Tumbeldown Cottage preparing for our Halloween celebrations. My mammy and daddy helped me to prepare these spookilicious treats. Please make sure that you ask a grown up to help you with this recipe as it does involve simmering water on the hob.
Makes 4:
- 100g white chocolate
- 2 bananas
- Chocolate chips, to decorate
You will also need:
- 4 x lollipop sticks
Break the white chocolate into small pieces and place in a heatproof bowl. Ask a grown up to place the bowl on top of a pot of gently simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not come into contact with the water.
While the chocolate is melting carefully peel the bananas and then cut each one into two pieces.
Once the chocolate has melted and is smooth ask a grown up to remove the bowl from the pot.
Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate and then insert the stick into one of the banana halves, leaving enough visible for you to hold. Holding the banana over the bowl of melted chocolate carefully spoon the chocolate over the banana until it is completely covered. Decorate the banana with two chocolate chips for eyes and one for a mouth. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment until set, or you could place the end of the lollipop stick through the hole of an upturned colander and leave to set.
Repeat with the remaining banana halves.
Note: Do not place the bananas in the fridge to set once covered in the chocolate as they will sweat and prevent the chocolate from setting properly. Eat on the day that they are made.
